Mahabaleshwar Hill Station


A pleasant hill station in the state of Maharashtra, Mahabaleshwar grabs the attention of many tourists.

Tourist Attractions

Wilson Point

Popularly known as the 'Sunrise Point', it is the highest point. Situated above 4710 ft above sea level, Wilson Point is a vast plateau. Three masonry round platforms are there to see the beautiful views of the sunrise.

Connaught Peak

It is the second highest point, presenting spectacular views of a green carpet. Both sunrise as well as sunset can be viewed from this point.

Elphinstone Point


Discovered in 1830, it was named after Sir Elephinston, the Governor of Bombay. Tourists visiting the place, can have the opportunity to see a clear view of the famous Pratapgarh from here. Well, one can also see the gorgeous two valleys, the Savitri on the right and the Koyna on the left.

Arthur's Seat

It is said to be the queen of all points, offering ample opportunities to see the barren deep valleys on both sides. Arthur's seat is the only place, displaying geographical distinction of Kokan & Desh (Deccan), two territories of Mahabaleshwar. From southern side, it also looks like an elephants head. Nearby, there is also an echo point.

Baghdad Point

It is an impressive point, which goes past village Moleshware on the way. You can view the beautiful views of the backwaters of Koyna dam on your left side, whereas river Solshi is in front of you with small villages. On your right side, you can see the vast green slopes of M'war plateau.

Pratapgarh Fort

The fort is perfect to experience the history of Maratha Emperor Shivaji. This is the place where Afzal Khan met his death. Situated 24 km west of Mahabaleshwar, the fort is 900 m above sea level. The fort from a distance offers the appearance of a round-topped hill. Built in 1656, it is a maze of chambers, ponds and dark paths.

Mahabaleshware has other popular attractions, which include names like Marjorie Point, Castle Rock, Babington Point, Northcote Point, Falkland Point, Carnac Point, Fitzgerald Point, Bombay Point and Gaolani Point.
